Your Example Itinerary
Day 1
Fly from the UK to San Francisco and check into your hotel.
Day 2
San Francisco
Welcome to San Francisco! Discover the delights of this fascinating city, wander the many hills, gorge on tasty food in Chinatown, explore Golden Gate Park on two wheels, and watch the sea lions frolic on Pier 39. Why not spend a full day exploring San Francisco Bay, hop across to the infamous island of Alcatraz, cross the Golden Gate Bridge, explore Golden gate Park and learn more about daily life in ’Frisco!
Accommodation at 4* The Westin St. Francis San Francisco on Union Square
Day 3
Monterey
Drive to the seaside town of Monterey, where the beautiful coastline with its seals, pelicans and otters, and its range of water-based activities, is the star attraction. Monterey Jack cheese also originated here, so why not give it a try? Santa Cruz is an easy day trip from Monterey if you fancy having a go at surfing, or simply chilling on the beach with an ice cream. Alternatively, perhaps spend some time in Carmel by the Sea, just 15 minutes’ drive away, where you can admire the quaint chocolate-box cottages.
Accommodation at 4* Hilton Garden Inn Monterey
Day 4
Pismo Beach
Along the central coast of California, with a wide sandy beach, Pismo is a relaxing spot to break your California journey. Watch the sunset from the pier, try some sea kayaking or take a hummer through the sand dunes. Pismo Beach is a great base from which to explore the parks, museums, galleries and shops of San Luis Obispo or make a day trip of it and call in at Paso Robles to try the local wines at one of over 200 wineries in the area.
Accommodation at 3* Hilton Garden Inn San Luis Obispo Pismo Beach
Day 5
Santa Barbara
Soak up the laid-back atmosphere in affluent Santa Barbara. Come for fine wines, warm sunshine and the fresh Pacific air, and don’t forget to try the wide assortment of artisanal produce on offer. The blue sky, sun and whitewashed houses combine to give a Mediterranean feel, so take a stroll around town, and indulge in a fine wine or two overlooking the glorious surrounding mountains and rolling hills.
Accommodation at 4* The Upham Hotel
Days 6-7
Los Angeles
Arrive in glitzy LA, look out for the odd movie star or two in Hollywood and find their star on the Walk of Fame. You can find any type of cuisine you can imagine here, but we recommend trying the noodles of Chinatown and the sushi of Koreatown. Why not take a tour of the city and the Hollywood Stars homes, you'll get a glimpse of some celebrity homes like Sandra Bullock and Katy Perry. For something a bit different check out the Cathedral of Our Lady of Angels, a huge, modern structure – very LA.
Accommodation at 4* Portofino Hotel & Marina
Days 8-9
Depart Los Angeles and return to the UK.
